You do not need heavy fabric to achieve a solid roman blind – the lining does that for you. Upholstery fabrics are too thick to enable nice folds.
Sheer fabrics are inappropriate for this particular type of blind since the batons show through and are ugly. If you need sheer blinds, have a conversation with us.
If you view websites to choose fabric look at drapery fabrics for the best outcome.
Wherever possible avoid cluttering the window by mounting blinds “above and beyond”. This means above the window and beyond the side edges of the window.
There are restrictions on the size of the blinds. It may be preferable if covering a large space to split blinds to line up with upright dividing bars in the glass.

Fabrics
Only three choices again:
- Supply us your fabric after we give you a quote for the amount required.
- Give us the supplier and design and colour details of your chosen fabric and we can purchase on your behalf.
- Give us a "brief" and we will select and sample for you or direct you to appropriate supplier websites.
Fabric Requirements
These metreages are based on plain fabric assumed to be 137cms wide.
If there is any surface pattern it will need matching and we will quote you on any vertical pattern repeat you specify.
For swags and contrast bands please contact us for fabric requirement.
We will return all left over fabric strips.
